Growth

Throughout these first few chapters, and probably through the rest of the novel, we see a lot of change and growth in Lily. Since running away, she has become aware of the differences, but not flaws in African Americans, seen how pain can completely tear someone apart, became more mature, and so many more. August has a big role in this, but does everyone else in the book. How do you think Lily has grown, and where in the book do you see this growth put into action?

  1. Lily has definitely grown I agree. She has grown to be a more mature, responsible, and caring young lady and his is shown throughout the book. The responsible and maturity is shown when she starts to run the beekeeping all by herself. She does seem to care a lot about the Boatwright girls and she is getting feeling for Zach. Love feeling is a sign of getting older as well
